Born and raised in South Africa, and now based in Sydney, Australia, Kobie Bosch’s artwork reveals her fascination with concepts of Home and Belonging. Her experience as an immigrant navigating the process of integration, informs her work.
Growing up in the countryside of Mpumalanga included frequent visits to the family farm and national parks. These encounters with nature instilled in Bosch a deep sense of identity to be found in relationship with the natural world. She strongly believes in a collective consciousness, a universal bond of sharing that connects all forms of life. She has sustained this connection with the natural world by regularly spending time in the Australian bush, studying the rich Australian flora and fauna and sharing these meaningful experiences in her paintings.
The intention of her artwork is to integrate the personal home interior with the exterior, natural world. Bosch uses finely tuned compositions, line and colour to evoke curiosity and fantasy. She is interested in the fringes and deliberately merges the lines between the outside and inside, inviting the viewer to explore a bold narrative where facts and fiction collide and co habitat.
Her work has been hung in various selected exhibitions, including The Mosman Art Prize, the Stanthorpe Art Prize, National Capital Art Prize, The Lethbridge Small Scale Salon De Refuses, Gosford Art Prize, Hornsby Art Prize and BAM Art Prize to name a few.
