Dominika Keller

I am a botanical illustrator and artist working from my studio in the Yarra Valley of South Eastern Australia. My home, garden and beautiful surrounds, present me with endless inspiration, with my work alternating between contemporary botanical illustrations, portraiture and still lifes and always reflecting and celebrating my deep love of nature, its cycles and it’s processes. As described by Penny Harrison in Yarra Valley Magazine, my work is “ delicate”, “detailed” and “vibrant”.

I find inspiration everywhere and am influenced by nature, my garden, and the changing seasons. I find there is beauty in every stage of the lifecycle, whether it be the closed bud of a flower, a deteriorated sea shell or a fallen leaf. My main challenge being that time is limited and of all my ideas, only some will end up as a finished piece! My art practice is my meditation, my connection to the earth, to my family, and at times it is all encompassing in the most beautiful of ways.

My recent achievements include being a finalist in the SBS Portraiture Prize and SPLASH McClelland Contemporary Watercolour Prize. I have exhibited in various group exhibitions and solos, as well as had several pieces included in the prestigious botanical illustration and natural history exhibitions at the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. My work is held in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, France, Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.
