Kelly is a self taught artist residing in Western Australia where she has spent the majority of her life. She has a background in Mechanical Engineering and took the opportunity to increase her focus on her arts practice in 2016, a few years after having her second child.
Revolving around a sense of balance, her artwork is influenced by a desire to capture and share joy and positivity. She is particularly interested in the moments in life when there is calmness and a joyous sensation of just being. Sometimes these are lasting experiences, other times they are just fleeting. The Australian landscape and native flora tend to form the backdrop for these feelings and feature heaving in Kelly’s work.
Artworks begin with freedom and unrestrained enthusiasm, followed by the push and pull to find harmony whilst retaining the power of the of the initial energy. Layers develop and both hints and bursts of early energy remain present as the pieces progress, with the ultimate goal to create work that you can get lost within, feel joyful and find that place to breathe and just be.
