About the Artwork:
This work explores how land is remembered through colour, atmosphere, and feeling. The deep reds evoke the warmth of sun-baked earth. The horizon, simplified and timeless, becomes a meeting place between memory and experience, inviting viewers to connect with their own sense of place and belonging. Rather than describing the land, the painting seeks to evoke its spirit. It speaks of memory held within the earth, of emotional connections forged through landscape, and of the profound beauty of the Australian Red Centre. My intention was to invite contemplation, allowing viewers to experience not just the appearance of the Outback but its resonance, the feeling of a place remembered and deeply felt.
About the Artist:
Paula is a self taught artist with a BA in Visual Arts from Monash University and a background as a creative in the corporate world. Working from her home studio in Naarm (Melbourne), she paints vibrant still lifes, Australian landscapes and depictions of native flora and fauna – drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of both the Australian red centre and coast. Her bold acrylic works are known for their strong compositions and bright, contrasting palettes.

Paula is a self taught artist with a BA in Visual Arts from Monash University and a background as a creative in the corporate world. Working from her home studio in Naarm (Melbourne), she paints vibrant still lifes, Australian landscapes and depictions of native flora and fauna – drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of both the Australian red centre and coast. Her bold acrylic works are known for their strong compositions and bright, contrasting palettes. Paula has exhibited widely across Australia through galleries, art shows and interior retailers. In 2023 she won Best in Show at Kyneton Gallery and this year she is a finalist in both The Next Big Thing at Toowoomba Gallery and the Doyle’s Art Prize.
