About the Painting:
Friends of ours built a beautiful timber boat in the 90s and named it Curlew. I spent a lot of time in the boat yard watching it grow and then loved going out on her in Moreton Bay, sleeping on the back deck. Often a summer storm would roll over which is what I've captured in this painting.
About the Artist:
Sophie Farquhar is a contemporary abstract artist based in Noosa, Queensland. Her colourful layered paintings combine loose brushstrokes and illustrative elements, drawing inspiration from the seaside, bushland and moments of everyday life. Her work explores memory, the passing of time and the joy of living well.
