40.5 x 40.5cm. Oil on canvas, unframed.
Rebecca's work is rooted in a romantic sensibility—art as comfort for the soul, not an audit of the world's problems. I paint to preserve feeling: the golden hush of late afternoon light, the calm of dappled sunlight or the quiet joy of a familiar object. Rebecca’s work is deeply shaped by travel and the sensory experiences of place. Her process combines painting en plein air, capturing fleeting light and atmosphere through quick sketches and studies, with collecting patterned textiles and aged heirlooms. These objects, rich with history and personal meaning, are woven into her work to evoke a sense of time and place. Back
in the studio, she refines these impressions using layered brushwork to create luminous, colourful pieces. Rebecca’s work invites the viewer to pause and reconnect, with memory, with place, and with the quiet beauty of everyday life and those universal moments that bring us peace.
