About the Artist

Polly lived in the outback of NSW on their property, and it wasn't until she finished teaching her two girls and then going off to boarding school, could Polly gain the opportunity to develop her own artistic talent. During this time a scholarship was available for anyone isolated for a week of art tuition to Mitchell College Bathurst. Winning this gave Polly entry into the art world, but other than that Polly is a self-taught artist.

Viewing the landscape from a light aircraft was a perspective she witnessed often, while managing parts of their property. Polly was, stirred by the sprawling landscape with its magnificent colours, patterns and textures -wide open spaces with vivid reds, golds and ochres racing up towards brilliant blue skies or meandering along the edges of rivers and creek beds. These aerial landscapes have become a part of Polly's passion, inspiring her ongoing vision and perspective of Outback Australia.

Moving to Forster on the mid North Coast of NSW, Polly's time is shared between travelling and painting. She incorporates the use of a drone into her travels, enabling her to capture the many aspects of the landscape she brings onto her canvas.

Polly's large-scale paintings are immersive, inspired by her environment, memory, and her rich internal landscape, all of which enhance the world she sees. She is a colorist with a joy ignited by her nature's rich palette. This allows her to come under this country's spell, and to share the freedom, diversity, power and presence of the Australian landscape.

Polly has gone onto exhibiting her work in galleries, and winning exhibitions. Her work is much admired and widely sourced.
