About the Artwork:
This piece exists in the quiet, deliberate space where the interior world meets everything we try to protect it from. The magpie sits perched above a heavy domesticity, the familiar weight of the vase, the ripening fruit, the steady, burning wick, acting as both an inhabitant of the home and its fierce guardian. By framing the composition with protective eyes and taping fragments of the outside landscape directly onto the interior wall, I wanted to explore how we construct safety within our private sanctuaries. It is a study of the vigilance required to keep a home peaceful, balancing the softness of a maternal space with the sharp, watchful eye of a protector who knows exactly what it takes to defend the threshold.

Blending surrealism with a hint of expressionism, her practice explores the emotional gravity of motherhood and the lingering weight of childhood. Her pieces meditate on the quiet exhaustion of a maternal line, capturing the beautiful tension between the obligation to remain present and the persistent, quiet urge to drift.
