About the Artist
Brittney Kleyn is a Brisbane-based mixed media artist, and the hands behind Kleyn Ceramics. The former television journalist found a love of clay on the wheel, evolving her practice to hand building which allows her explore playful, sculptural pieces. Brittney unites simple shapes, bold lines and color to transform real-life objects into ceramics and draws inspiration from things that spark joy in her life as creative and mum to daughter Florence.
Her surface decoration and paintings utilize color, shadow, and basic forms to portray her love for the finer things in life, most notably food, fashion and interiors. Her work – including ceramic function ware – isn’t designed to be taken too seriously. Ultimately, she creates pieces and work she wants for her own home, for people who want authentic, fun-spirited pieces in theirs too.
All pieces are wheel-thrown, fired and glazed at a pottery studio in Brisbane, Australia and all glazes are food, microwave and dishwasher safe.
