About the Artist:
April Psonis is a self-taught artist based in Melbourne. Born and raised in Tasmania, April developed a natural love for painting and drawing at a very young age, describing her creativeness as something that is deeply embedded in her family, derived from her very talented grandmother.
April Psonis’s style has evolved organically over the years; where she once lent her brush to realism, she now creates semi-abstract works that push against restraint and the ordinary. Drawing from a diverse range of influences, April describes the female form as her most poignant source. Through her bold use of colour and the interplay between feminine and masculine, April creates works that challenge the traditional stereotypes of what beauty and femininity should be.
