About the Artist:

My current works are highly intuitive and inspired by how the world makes me feel, not so much how I see it. My choice to use raw canvas with acrylic paint creates dreamy watercolour scenes. While I mainly use acrylics, my mark making tools include charcoal and pencils, and I prefer to use my hands and non traditional brushes for painting like brooms and paintbrushes taped to long sticks.

More about

The Toowoomba Gallery

I paint how the world makes me feel, not so much how I see it.

I am a Tasmanian born abstract artist living in Brisbane with my husband, two boys and our king charles cavalier.

When both my parents died within a few years of each other I turned to my Art practice for answers. I would take my dog for walks through the local cemetery to try and find some sort of closure, but it was the sunsets and skies from this magical cemetery that really spoke to me. These moody skies became the initial inspiration for me to get back into the studio.

Art has always been a big part of my life. My mother was an artist and I spent many hours in her studio as a child. I remember being in the way a lot! And if I wasn't in the way of my mum, I was in the garage with my dad building cars getting in his way.

I've spent all of my life involved in some form of creative outlet. When I finished school I opted to study Performing arts over Fine arts, but found myself more interested in costume and set design than learning my lines. Anyone who's known me for any length of time will tell you that creativity is in my blood. I'm so excited to be able to live and breathe art, and I hope you all enjoy the results.
