About the Artwork:
I recently travelled to California where I hiked through Joshua Tree National Park. I loved the texured landscape and the bright sky against the natural tones of the the desert rock.
About the Artist:
I paint from my home in Melbourne but I love to escape to the surf at every given opportunity which is where most of my inspiration is from; the coast, the ocean, the endless beaches and rugged landscapes that lead me there. Exploring depth of colour and texture through mixing oil paint with cold wax, I always get lost in the layers and love to experiment with shades and tones.
Most of my paintings are evocative of a memory and through layers and adventurous use of colour and colour harmony I find huge excitement as each painting is transformed. Inspired by 20th Century artists such as Henri Matisse, Nicolas de Stael and Bernard Cathelin I am enjoying new challenges as my journey unfolds.
