This piece is a still life study I painted in my home studio. The beautiful steel asymmetrical Georg Jensen vase is one of my favourite objects and I love the reflections it captures. It is full of exuberant native flowers in this painting. I like to think the Cubists would have loved Australian Natives, with all of their spikes and sculptural angles. This work is play on textures, patterns, exploring the marriage of nature and culture, as well as a nod to my French heritage and my new Australian home.
