Dear M, D, F and V, Watching you make origami reminds me that children rarely worry about getting it perfect. If the fold isn't quite straight, you simply smooth it out and keep going. Sometimes the paper tears, and you turn it into something else instead. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, we become afraid of wasting paper, making mistakes or starting again. Maybe that's why I enjoy painting these folded forms so much. They remind me that making something with your hands was never meant to be perfect—it was always meant to be joyful.
