Original Artwork
About the Artwork:
Dear M, D, F and V, I remembered something today. When I was a child, I thought a ream of printing paper was so precious and scarce. As Vietnamese immigrants, we couldn’t afford many extras, so to me, having paper to be creative was a luxury. But perhaps now that I'm a parent myself, I wonder if there was another reason…maybe your Ông and Bà (Grandpa and Grandma) simply thought your Aunt and I only used paper to make a mess and decided never to buy us paper again. Love always, Mummy xo
About the Artist:
Catherine Nguyen-Hoang is a contemporary artist whose paintings begin with something real—a gesture, a shadow, a memory. She paints the familiar not to distort it, but to reveal the deeper stories they quietly hold.
